| 1st PART -
DAWN and SPRING
1. DOWN THE STARRY PATH
Like the Sun our People came from the East. Now we are in a New
Millennium and we intend to survive. Maybe we were led here by the
Magic Deer with the Sun
shining between its horns or perhaps we were protected by Prince
Csaba on the
legendary Starry Path. Myth and memory have become one in the mists
of time.
Like the ever recurring Dawn and the regeneration of Spring so we
too try
again to find our place in the Sun and rejoice.
- The Magic Deer, according the the Hungarian legend two princes
were lost in
the woods and a Deer showed them the way to this land where they
finally
settled.
- Another legend says that Prince Csaba led his people here along
a starry
path.
2. TWILIGHT SACRIFICE
This ancient sacrificial rite signifies the dawn of mankind. Man,
at the
mercy of Nature, tries to ensure the goodwill of an All-Mighty Power.
The
repetitive movements of the dance have a magical effect and as it
is in the
form of a circle it signifies protection and the strength of an
interlocking
pattern. The girl who is separated from the brilliant, dazzling
circle is the
symbol of ancient human sacrifice. *At the end only one dancer remains
on
stage and she whirls in a red light till the stage becomes dark./
3. SONG OF THE SUN
This song to the sun is asking for salvation and good fortune for
everyone.
NOON / SUMMER
4. IT IS SUMMER AGAIN
Love, youth and strength are the watchwords; the pairing of the
men and women
represents the power and force of Nature. The sun sparkling on the
horizon
reaches and inspires the People.
SUNSET / AUTUMN
5. "LEAVING FOR GOOD" (song)
This is a vision of the horrors that may lurk in mankinds's destiny.
There is
a vision of the sadness of future farewells.
6. TRAINS BEAR THEM AWAY
Soldiers leaving for the war in the clattering carriages, dream
of freedom;
their thoughts, in the form of soothing dreams, are with their sweethearts
left at home. At the end the dancers stiffen into the representation
of an
Army and they are drawn towards their fate.
7. SIGHING IN RED AND GREEN
The Girls yearn for their lovers. The repetitious movements convey
their
stubborn hopefulness of meeting them again.
NIGHT / WINTER
8. PRISONERS' SONG
This depicts Man's loneliness. Captivity isolates prisoners from
the
world and alienates them from each other and their own personalities.
They try
again and again to escape.
9. SNOWFALL
Their yearning for far away sweethearts floats like birds in the
sky.
MANLY GAMES / WE HAVE A NICE DAY
Masculine passions are being expressed. The self-destructive rage
of the men
disappears when the women, who are the Sisters of the Sun, appear.
The menąs
belligerent tendencies are dissipated by the women who are symbols
of all
conquering Hope.
2nd PART
FULL MOON
1. FAREWELL
The sunshine disappears and gives way to the silvery rays of the
Moon which
shine on a tired world. The warmth of happier days lives only in
memories.
There is the foreboding of a dark future. The modern world may fall
to pieces
but what will follow? Mankind says goodbye to a world which will
never return.
2. ALONE
The dance starts but the routine is harsh and depicts the coming
of a
gloomy austere world.
3. THE DANCE OF THE SUN - FIREDANCE
Blazing fires are raging everywhere. They clash like the heat spots
on the
sun and there is no sign of relief. The exhausted and overwhelmed
dancers
fall into each other's arms onto the dying embers.
4. WAITING FOR THE RAIN
Yearning for the purifying rain and hoping for the magic of the
new
millennium.
ECLIPSE
5. THE DEVILS' BALL
The purification does not work and Hell erupts. Evil powers from
the
underworld invade the Earth and take over the souls of men.
6. THE LAST SONG
This is a desperate cry for salvation. The absence of Hope turns
men and women
against each other but finally the tormented souls are reconciled
as they
realise there is no future without one another.
ERUPTION
7. NEW DAYS ALWAYS COME
Men and women join hands and the blessed sun shines again. It signifies
the
strength of love which is kindled by a million hearts beating in
unison.
The great cycle starts again.
